Welcome to the Field Guide to Stonehill College. The purpose of this site is simple. We want to make it easier to study and appreciate the plants and animals on Stonehill's campus. We had two groups of users in mind when we started this project. The first group consists of the students, faculty, and staff of the college. These people interact with the wildlife shown here on a daily basis. The second group consists of teachers and students in K-12 school districts in the area around Stonehill's campus in southeastern Massachusetts. We would like to make our campus a classroom where this second group can teach and learn about the wildlife that is all around us. Our campus and the Field Guide present many opportunities for science education. If you would like to pursue these opportunities, please contact us.

This Field Guide is a work in progress. It is not intended to be encyclopedic, at least not in the near future. Everyone working on it is learning a great deal about everything from plant identification to web site design; it has been a wonderful teaching tool for us. If you have corrections or suggestions for improvements, we would like to hear them.
