Eastern Gray Squirrel

Description:

Body Length: 14.9"- 20.6", half of which is tail
Weight: 12 oz - 24 oz
Color: Back is brownish-gray. Belly is white. Tail is very bushy and matches the fur. The Stonehill population of Gray Squirrels contains some individuals that are "blonde". They have very light tan fur (see two bottom picture for comparison of the gray and blonde forms).

Habitat: Forest, spending most of its life in trees. Dome-shaped nests are built at the tops of trees, made of sticks and leaves.

Personality:

Diet: Nuts of hickory and oak trees, primarily; also, walnut, pecan, and mulberry nuts.

Language: A series of bird-like chirps. "Barks" when agitated.
